Mixed media construction ‘Pangaea X” is an integrated work of two opposites. Pangaea is the supercontinent that existed some 250 million years ago on earth, before the land masses were separated into their current configuration. Adding my sons’ personal toys onto the shape of Pangaea, the work juxtaposes two extremes of time and history: one is the beginning of our planet’s continents, and the other is the small things from the beginning of two children’s personal lives. The framed landscape painting over the toys suggests my solution to the problem of how to integrate this paradoxical opposition.
